How We Understand “Mission”

When Jesus commands his followers to, “Go and make disciples…” it is a very large and engaging task. It is not just isolated to far off lands but right where we live. Here are a few of the many places we can do our “Mission”.

Our Family

The mission of Christ begins in our homes and families. We are called to teach Christ crucified to one another and to our children. Our primary mission is to disciple our immediate family members and other relatives.

Our Workspaces

Being a Christian in the workplace presents many opportunities to express our faith, both actively and passively. God honors our faithful witness. Engaging in conversations that reflect a Christ-centered worldview is a calling that is both commanded and expected.

Engaging in Mission Work

The Lord calls certain individuals to share Christ in places that are unfamiliar to them. This involves leaving behind the known and venturing into different communities to spread the Gospel of Christ. This can be nearby or far away. We must be willing and eager to respond to such a calling.

Our Church Family

Inverleigh Presbyterian Church has focus on loving and caring for the body of faith we call our church. We are there for them in the love and discipline of the Lord. Further, we are actively engaging in public expressions of our Christian faith in our local communities and surrounds.

Australian Presbyterian World Missions

We belong to the Presbyterian Church of Australia. And APWM is our national world missions committee which sends PCA church members to points around the globe for the cause of Christ Jesus. We participate with sending people to mission fields, as well as financially supporting those who go.

Making Missions Possible

Not everyone can actively engage in every type of missionary activity. Some folk have limitations that are physical or spiritual or time constrained in the present phases of their lives. But they can still play a role in “Sending others” whom God has called and enable them to spread the teachings of Jesus.
